While I generally support the proper usage of my Nation’s language, as well as making linguistic education available and fun for all, pedantry on the wording surrounding the horrific deaths of hundreds of innocent men, women, and children is uncouth.
There is a time and a place for everything, and this wasn’t it. I’m sorry to be blunt.
So, so many poorly informed people in here jumping to conclusions, many of which were already ruled out in the preliminary report.
I don’t know any more than what’s in that document myself.
Perhaps some of the armchair aircraft safety investigators in here might want to at least skim the details before coming up with wild theories? Or at least provide reasoning and evidence to support them.
May those who lost their lives, and their loved ones, find peace and closure as best they can once we have all the details. Until then, it would be crass to speculate, especially as non-experts not privvy to the details of the investigation.
Yeah, I’m not even in that country, I’m not sure how it’s relevant to us all.
Many countries have corrupt governments sadly, it sucks, and I wish them the best in however they fight their internal societal enemies.
Really? A greater effect than not having children, or tireless activism against one billionaire until they realise the error of their ways and turn to the light side?
Makes sense, we pay our licence fee for our public service, why should people abroad get for free what we have to pay for?
I was happy with the current arrangement of adverts supporting the service use abroad, but if it has to migrate to a subscription model to meet modern demands then that’s the way it is.
I wouldn’t go to another country and ask them to make one of their government’s national public services free for me to use, after all.

If the USA government says it’s not involved, that means it’s involved, right? Every lie from them is a truth these days.
They’re not wrong though, assuming they’re in the UK and/or their contract agrees a minimum of two weeks notice, as is standard.
This applies both ways. I expect this employee would be angry if their employer breached their contract to sack them immediately without this notice, but if the employee breaches those same terms of their agreed contract that’s…okay? No.
Regardless of their feelings, it’s very unprofessional, petty even, and depending on how litigious and unhappy with them their employer is, not a very smart idea.
There are many edge cases where things must be looked at differently of course (someone resigning over harassment at work would not wish to remain there for a fortnight serving their notice for example), but this must be discussed and agreed upon, because again, it deviates from the legally binding contractual agreement they both signed.
This employee, regardless of any legitimate grievances, in this communication is unprofessional, petty, and frankly childish.
While I don’t know the story behind their falling out, I suspect the employer will be glad to see them go. I wouldn’t want them working for me, or even work with them as a colleague. They sound awful.
Nobody cares. You’re homeless? Nobody cares. You just got dumped? Nobody cares. You’re sick? Nobody cares. You’re struggling? Nobody cares.
Sure you might have some friends who care in a very superficial way, but when the going gets tough, everybody leaves.
There’s just no hope, and you’re on your own.

I’m curious how they would convert this to be a functional Air Force One plane.
That aircraft is disassembled and reassembled almost entirely on a regular basis to keep it in tip top shape and find sabotage and issues, etc.
It’s also equipped specially with military defences, and of course has an onboard suite of equipment and personnel to run a war from the sky, in air refuelling, etc etc.
It’s an EXTREMELY specialised version of that very reliable aircraft, is what I’m saying.
How would they bring this new plane up to that standard, and why should they waste tax money on doing so? What’s the benefit to the nation?
It all seems ridiculous from the outside looking in. It seems that they’re just trying to appease a stupid man who thinks like a dodgy car salesman, and thus is happy to accept big dumb bribes, always getting the worst end of a deal, when the smarter people play him over and over.

Yeah it’s normal, it’s one of the first things I ask or get asked when I meet new people online.
It’s cool to meet new people from all around the world, so knowing where someone’s from is really interesting and gives people stuff to talk about too!
Plus, it’s very helpful, because once you know where someone’s from you know their timezone, what sort of weather they deal with, you might have some insight into their culture etc to better ensure you don’t offend them, or maybe you’ve visited or love something about their country so again you now have new things to talk about :-D
Anyway yeah, similarly with wanting to know someone’s age, location is often one of the first questions we as strangers ask each other in online conversation.
Age is also super useful to know, are we talking to a 12 year old? A 20 year old? A 60 year old? Knowing their age will better inform us of how to have a positive and respectful conversation, it’ll inform us of what part of their life there in and thus we can take guesses to their generational cultural norms and interests, if they’re likely to have a career, or be married, or if they’re likely still in education studying for their masters, etc etc.
You don’t need to know an EXACT age, just as you don’t need to know an EXACT location, but “I’m in my 20s from England” is a more than appropriate response :-)
Bottom line: Always trust your gut if someone seems weird online (especially if they’re pushy for info you’re unwilling to share), but don’t assume they’re weird just because they want to know some basic details like A/S/L 👍

Yes, only pillocks don’t use their indicators. They’re an essential method of communication between vehicles and for pedestrians, and an essential safety feature.
I cannot stress this enough, people who don’t use their indicators are massive twats and shouldn’t be on the road.
They’re a danger to themselves and everybody around them.
People really do not like seeing opposing viewpoints, eh? There’s disagreeing, and then there’s downvoting to oblivion without even engaging in a discussion, haha.
