Because then it is not regulated. Meaning you’ll have scammers selling fake abortion pills, which will do nothing. Or even worse, pills with something else that could get you addicted.
People are assholes, especially in a capitalist system. Regulation is necessary here.
Most people who run from their country are all but financially stable.
We haven’t studied rhe same History.
The problem is that inconsiderate smokers are actively hurting the health of the people suffering from their inconsideration. Passive smoking is a thing, and it has long term consequences.
So while it sucks for the individual freedom of considerate smokers like yourself, banning public smoking protects a lot of people who get their health damaged by what is in my experience in France most of the smokers. And protection is one of the purposes of the law.
As much of a good idea as this is, I’m not sure a NYC-centric local news has its place on news@lemmy.world
