I’ve never been to NYC. In general I would say I’m not a fan of big cities. I guess I’m biased though.
I will say Toronto has some very nice areas where I wouldn’t mind living. They’re extremely expensive though!

I’ve been to Toronto many times and talked to loads of people who have either lived there or visited there many times. You’re the first person I’ve ever heard say that!
If you’re looking for an alternative to the USA’s big landscapes and natural parks then Canada is your best bet. If you’re looking for more cultural stuff and things to do in cities then Canada only has a few nice cities and they’re spread across the country from coast to coast.
It’s Synecdoche, a figure of speech where a part of something is used to refer to the whole.
That’s good, though I still feel uncomfortable about it!
Am I paranoid for worrying that the US might order flights from Canada to Mexico to be diverted to a US airport so that ICE can look for “illegals and DEI folk”?
How are people getting to Mexico from Canada without going through the US? You’d have to take one heck of a convoluted flight path to avoid US airspace. Can you actually fly over the US direct to Mexico from Canada without going through US customs?
People have been doing hot water bath canning at home for well over a century. It works great for acidic foods like tomatoes or pickled vegetables. It’s completely safe if you follow the USDA Guide to Home Canning.
Succulent Chinese Meal guy passed away not too long ago.
The greatest of all time was Blendo:
Designed by Jamie Hyneman (of Mythbusters fame). It consists of a 5hp lawnmower engine powering a circular saw blade, encased in a dome made from a wok. The thing was so dangerous Jamie almost lost a foot starting it up (using the ripcord to start the lawnmower engine).
It was undefeated. It tore the ever-loving hell out of anything it faced, frequently launching dismembered parts of its opponents into the crowd at terrifying velocity. It was simply too dangerous to be allowed to continue competing, so it was retired!
Luigi could’ve passed the screening check to become the guy’s bodyguard. Maybe he even would’ve had a better opportunity to escape.
Many, many ruthless tyrants and other nasty people have been killed by their own bodyguards over the years. And these are often guards who have been properly vetted.
How vetted are these Uber rentacops gonna be? No criminal record doesn’t mean you can trust the person if you’re some ruthless bastard with a lot of enemies.
Similar issue in Japan, Taiwan, China, and more. I remember reading about an idol fanbase going ballistic when their favourite weather girl got a boyfriend.
The whole idol industry is incredibly toxic. It turns parasocialization into a ruthlessly monetized business.
Musk realized at the last minute that NASA is one of his (SpaceX’s) biggest customers! Whew that was a close one there!
There is no spoon.
Ahh yes. The good old “now caramelize the onions, about 5 mins.”
Thanks for the heads up! I never PM anyone on social media platforms unless I’ve met them in real life and they expressed actual openness to talking to me.
Avast, ye mateys!
Netflix selection is crap anyway!
I’m in camp YEA but both of them seem pretty cool to me. I’d be friends with both. Neither deserves this shade you’re throwing!
You can work hard without creating shareholder value. Work hard for yourself and people you care about.
Hard work has an intrinsic value in that it promotes confidence, self esteem, wellbeing, and in the case of physical work: exercise, health, and a good night’s sleep. Of course, very little of these benefits can be had working in an office for some giant corporation where your job seems to be totally meaningless. It’s far more rewarding to be working for yourself (self-employed) and providing tangible value (growing food or producing crafts or artwork, or valuable service) for real people that you meet in person.
Our brains can’t be fooled. When something we’re doing seems useless, we feel useless, and getting paid doesn’t alleviate that. Even if we’re getting paid more than we think it’s worth, it still feels bad. But doing something that seems useful makes us feel really useful and valuable, even if we’re not getting paid for it at all (as with volunteering).
Remove the need to exercise, like an anaconda. The ability to just lay around doing nothing and still be ripped to the max. That would be cool!
