Exactly, there’s already plenty. I do my best to scroll as fast as possible and not interact, it will be unfortunate if this makes it worse tho

Technically the deflectors were only there in case the interruptors didn’t work right for some reason I believe. Still kinda funny tho
True, most of the really good and interesting stuff will take years, there will hopefully be initial findings sooner, more in the of months but you’re right that weeks is way too short
Oh cool, it’s finally back! I remember when it collected the sample, can’t wait to hear about all the stuff they find in the coming weeks and months
Yeah I’m not sure what the point about the moon waste is considering it’s likely inside the remainins of lunar landers. The real space junk to worry about is all the stuff in LEO that will cause problems with satellites and such in the near future
The problem with direct air capture is that it only is good if it exclusively uses renewables, and right now it would be much better to instead use that energy to replace fossil fuels. Only excess renewable energy should be used for it, maybe in places like Scotland that have too much wind power. Capture directly from the source is also better as the concentration of carbon is much higher in the output from a smokestack, and as such has more impact and is more energy efficient too
The thing is, there is some merit to the idea that some of these jobs will be threatened by AI, but not quite in the ways people seem to be obsessed with, which is being fully replaced. This is just like any other advance in software, with better tools being created that allow fewer people to do the same amount of work. There are certain parts that truly cannot be done yet, and you still need to have someone that knows how it is supposed to work using the AI not just a manager.
Thats an argument against federalism itself lol
And it is no doubt a facetious argument, they don’t actually believe that they just say it but what they mean is they want us for only them to have that control
Yeah it’s not perfect out of the box but after turning off telemetry and adding some add-ons like ublock origin and such it’s one of the best short of going full on tor/mullvad. And still less fanaticism than brave lol
Why not use Firefox?
From what I understood the ones that made the initial discovery weren’t initially trying to make room temperature superconductors and just kinda stumbled upon it and also might not fully understand either how superconductors work or how to test for it, and all tried to rush the paper out.
Looks like they posted it because the site tagged it as cyber-crime
In was just thinking of this video! There really are some legitimately good things about the imperial system, but metric is still better, but imo not quite enough better to take the work of converting everything in the country over to it
Yeah and it’s not like you have to give up all the content on lemmygrad.world either, I’m thinking of instance hopping myself too just because of all the problems with outages and connection issues, which will help reduce the strain on their servers too
You realize you could just get a personal instance running and federate with whoever you want, or leave to a different instance federated with who you want? That’s kind of the entire point of Lemmy’s federation system. There are so many other instances besides Lemmy.world to choose from, you should really look into others
Yeah in personally confident that it is either real or will directly lead to a room temp superconductor discover, particularly because of the simulation. Of course, can’t fully call it until there is hard evidence and corroborating papers have been published, but I am still extremely optimistic.
I’m betting a decent part of it is the bear(s) just seeing people and how they behave every day, not too surprising they might imitate it. Animals are intelligent too after all
Definitely seems like a real thing that could be pretty good for the future, here are some other articles from slightly better places:
Took em long enough
