Yeah when I was young most the weird anti vegetarian talking points that got thrown at me endlessly were things like ‘but if you were on an island without vegetation you’d have to eat meat’ but there was a point where it switched to bad nutrition ‘you can’t get protein from vegetables!’

I would point out that since I’ve never eaten meat and am healthy and strong that’s obviously not true and so they’d revert back to innane stuff like ‘mice and foxes get killed during harvesting’ or ‘plants can feel pain too’

Now though it’s evolved into weird alpha male podcast drivel, I hear stuff like ‘beans make you feminine’ and ‘we need beef protein to create masculine hormones’ and it’s always backed by complex jargon from people speaking like doctors but who can’t answer basic biology questions like what do the kidneys do.

I donate small amounts to open source projects and content creators that .make stuff for everyone because I really believe it’s a great way of fighting capitalism and many of the problems it’s caused.

Yes they should but that’s largely down to Democrats, if they wanted to have a dialog and offer to pay to have their busses collect them then I doubt the republican senators could refuse from a political standpoint

Where are the plans to make a fair ayatem? Where are the calls to organize peoper transport? All I see is democrats calling it immoral and saying they should stop.

It’s funny that any time these companies are brought up everyone says they’re dangerous yet the second one listens to the sorts of studies about negative affects that get quoted here all the time everyone suddenly decides actually its censorship or brainwashing or corporate greed and that it’s evidence they’re evil…

Scientific studies said this content can harm developing children so they made efforts to mitigate harm, is it really so hard just to say ‘oh thats good, well done’ and if so then doesn’t that tell you a lot about your own motivations?

The problem is youribe can only have one page of information and that has to be the front page offering old, new, expected and unexpected content in one easy to view list.

You know what would happen if they had a second list that only showed your subscribed content? Literally no one would click on it and everyone would complain it doesn’t exist, they proved this in a test where they had that exact feature on every single person’s page since they started but here we still are people complaining that their subscriptions don’t always show up on the fyp (algo page)

We do need to address certain toxic traits that are bringing things down, hyper negativity is the default as well as intense partisanship to the point where anyone with a slightly unpopular opinion is instantly labeled as an troll, bot, or agent of dark forces - you can see it a dozen times just in this thread.

There is no debate here because anyone who doesn’t follow the groupthink is chased out, the news is super biased because of this but it also spills over in to everywhere.

I think there are too many people that think they should be the dictator of lemmy, we really need to start up voting good posts and useful content rather than knee-jerk down voting.
