Anyone who praises Xi Jingping, Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, and <insertAuthoritarianMurdererHere> as hard as I routinely see on lemmy.ml, hexbear, and lemmygrad is an awful person and deserves derision, contempt, and distrust. They can call themselves a “leftist”, “socialist”, “communist”, or a whatever-ist. Fundamentally, they’re edgelord bootlickers and temporarily inconvenienced dictators-in-waiting.

    “wHaTaBoUt USA, iSrAeL, nAtO, etc.?”

You can hate “The West”, their people, their foreign policy, and their economics.

Doesn’t mean you should suck dictators’ dicks because they’re “not The West”.

lemmy.ml, hexbear, and lemmygrad users verbally fellate contemporary and historical autocratic mass-murderers they deem to be “leftists”, or “great leaders and allies to the cause”, most recently being Vladimir Putin, Xi Jingping, and Kim Jong Un.

They are, in reality, bitch-made invertebrates who don’t even have the arm-strength to lift their Molotov-sippy-cups out of their premium-outdoor-brand backpacks, let alone form meaningful opinions on economics, political philosophy, or geopolitical reality.

  • thats derogatory

Despite whether it was called for or not, being derogatory is the point.

    and misogynistic.

    No, it’s not.

For example, my mother is a gambling-addicted, mean-spirited, unapologetic, narcissistic bitch. My brother, my cousins, and I have receipts to prove it.

For what she put my family and I through, I will call her a bitch to her face at every opportunity, until her death. To denigrate her. Because she deserves it.

She is the equivalent of the definition of a bitch, a female dog. In fact, she’s worse because female dogs, in my experience, have been orders of magnitude more loyal, agreeable, and loving.

Do I hate all women? Does equating a woman to a female dog reveal an irrational contempt of every woman?

Absolutely not, and my wife, niece, cousins, and female friends would all agree. People who make claims like yours attempt to infantilize and absolve women of ridicule or accountability in some weird effort to appear to want to “protect” them, and, ironically, are being sexist towards women!

Women are just people; some are wonderful and some are awful, and some are stupid bitches, from the goddess Laxmi right down to my abusive bitch of a mother; let’s not forget one of the worst bitches of all time, “The Bitch of Buchenwald”.

Your banal and platitudinous political correctness on the internet will never change that.

  • If smartphone use is global, why is the strongest evidence of surging teen anxiety mostly in English-speaking countries and not in their less-English-speaking neighbors?

My answer is that although mental illness is global, the experience of mental illness cannot be separated from culture. If there is a surge of Anglospheric gloom among teenagers, we have to study the culture that young people are consuming with their technology. In the past generation, the English-speaking world, led by the U.S., has experimented with a novel approach to mental health that has expanded the ranks of the “worried well,” while social media has surrounded young people with reminders to obsess over their anxieties and traumas, just as U.S. news media have inundated audiences with negativity to capture their fleeting attention.

As an American citizen living in Europe since July of 2022 and maintaining dual residency, I posit that “quiet desperation is the English way”, but we Americans do it “loud and proud”.
