16 days agoI wouldn’t care if I had to use multiple messanger apps. There used to be a pc program that let you login to msn, irc, and yahoo messanger all at once and manage your accounts in one place.

It gives you a bit more freedom in that you can federate or defederate with whatever instance you want, you can make your own communities that are free from other instance admin descisions like fed/defed. Less risk of losing your account.
It’s social media and political manipulation.

1·2 months agoThe point is more federation, not less. Decentralizing prevents any big rifts in the fediverse from fracturing the community.
Well please come share your dull experiences at both if you like. The original community gets about a dozen posts per week, sundays are generally the most “busy” people like picture posts a lot.
I’m mechanically inclined, worked on cars profesionally for a few years, been in manufacturing for over ten years now. I can research enough to get around a linux terminal, but I learned compuers on apple IIe and commodore 64.
