Social media as a whole is the infrastructure of authoritarianism. It only needs someone to put it use.

That’s a paraphrase from some talking head I heard a while back. The world has been feeding this machine for about 15 years. It’s filled with everyone’s personal data.

In a sense this is the Skynet doomsday. It’s already in place. All it takes right now is a flip of a switch. Like the Doomsday Clock. We are on the verge of it. Midnight strikes soon.

I have no doubt ICE is already using this to know how and where to pluck people off the street. If I’m a person that could be targeted in America right now. I’d be 100% off the grid. Ditch every electronic device. Go completely dark. Disappear myself to another location before they disappear me.

Apparently ban has a different meaning than it used to. I keep seeing dramatic posts about Who-Gives-Shit influencer getting banned from somewhere. The next day or two I see another post about how they’re back.

Is there some evil villain angle to this. Like the data is hosted outside of any country thus not subject to any laws or regulations.

The talking heads say the words they want to hear. There are many listeners which results in a herd effect. Someone is saying it while many people are agreeing. Therefore it could be right.

As another reply said, it’s a propaganda machine. It became a mechanism for disseminating political doctrine.

Or to describe it in their vernacular. It’s a virtue signalling wokeright mindvirus.

Marc Maron is the person who people think the lot of these guys like Burr are. His comedy/commentary is earnest. He has conviction. People like Burr are performative commentary. They go back to the dressing room to wash off the clown makeup so they can go back to being their private self. They don’t give a shit about the things the say into the mic.

I had a feeling he exploits the 9/11 thing for sympathy.

I wish we’d moderate trolls again on our internet.

We’d kno wIf he was remotely left of center he’d have gotten the Luigi / Hannibal Lecter treatment

People don’t like being forced to engage with belligerent reactionaries.

Yeah it was a useless metric anyways. What I’ve found is that people use that number to as evidence to some rhetoric. Pretty much every time I point out it’s a useless metric they become very angry.

I saw that kind of thing too. I figured those girls were probably dating the popular guys our age. A while later I found out that not even those guys were dating them. It was the 20 to 30 somethings.
