  • So there were some military contracts that were just awarded.

    54 missions total:

    SpaceX: 28 missions, $5.9 B = $210.7 M per launch

    ULA: 19 missions, $5.4 B = $284 M per launch

    BO: 7 missions, $2.4 B = $342.9 M per launch

SpaceX did get the most money, but they were also the cheapest provider due to their reusable 1st stages.

Just with those 9 extra launches over ULA SpaceX saves the US government and taxpayers 668 million dollars.

If SpaceX didn’t exist, it would have been 8 2 billion more but actually worse since the other providers can’t supply that much and wouldn’t have had as much competitive incentive. Just look at BO the next one which was almost 60m more than ULA. It easily could have ballooned to 4b more adding a 3rd even more expensive option.

Doesn’t seem so self dealing to me, they were able to bid lower and win more, and saved, (I’m assuming you given your rage upset) a shit load of money.

This is what SpaceX has been doing for years, well before he got in bed with Trump.

  • Just a further thought…

It’d be interesting if the tax could automatically increase if these goals that were met, were no longer met.

So to go from 3% to 2% you need to generate an extra billion revenue, but if you lose that revenue it then climbs back to 3%.

It would really complicate the system… you’d essentially need to always be set up to charge income tax, but then have a variable rate that updates the systems maybe quarterly or yearly. But you couldn’t ditch the system entirely since you’d need companies to have a method to suddenly start charging it again if it had to go from 0% to 0.5%

  • When there’s a disruptive force, you have a few options

    1. try to kill it so it can’t disrupt

    2. do nothing and be disrupted

    3. dip you toes in, so if disruption happens you aren’t blindsided and can hopefully wade through it

    4. take a chance and swim in it so you can be on the leading edge of that disruption.

They’ve kinda tried option 1 but failed.

Option 2 could lead to long term consequences

Option 3 leaves them prepared but not overly exposed

Option 4 would be pretty risky

So really, option 3 is probably the best bet given option 1 hasn’t been working.

  • So personally, I think the government should have some, but I don’t specifically think selling gold for it is the right idea.

Everyone seems to be on about how this is just about cashing out his buddies, but what I’m worried about is these dumbfucks won’t know how to properly secure it or won’t properly secure it and itll get easily stolen, or they’ll outright steal it themselves.

Like they just used signal to talk about bombing Yemen and included a journalist on it…

So while I think it’s not a bad idea to have some, it’s fucking terrifying that Trump is doing this and can influence it.

  • They may have used the proper glue… that foot pedal recall, proper glue, but the workers had trouble installing it so they added soap to the pedal without properly vetting it and that fucked up the glue.

Something like that could have happened again

Edit: Just thinking of a made up stupid reason like the soap and thought it was funny…

E.g: We were supposed to use a size 3 glue applicator as per the asssembly spec, but it was causing some excess glue to come out along the edges as we placed the trim down and it was a lot of effort to properly wipe up on each vehicle, so we started using a size 2 applicator with less glue! 🤦
