Every country should refuse to send eggs to the US.

The only way I would consider it would be if there was a US wide broadcast where the world leader that gives them some has a low-level staffer ask JD Vance if he is going to “say thank you even once”. Trump needs to then tell JD that he has to say thank you because “we don’t have the cards. With them, we start to have cards”.

If they won’t say that on television, put export tariffs on eggs to the US at 500%.

It has to be 500% because 3 times the current price of eggs in Canada is about what they are selling for in the US already.

Recognition but not love. They will have no money.

So….a defence meeting with Great Britain, Europe, Turkey, and Canada without the US. This sounds an awful lot like a NATO meeting without the US.

Trump may not have to worry about leaving NATO. They may do it for him.

As funny as that joke is (and I have certainly laughed at it I the past), I do not believe the US is indispensable in the fight against Russia. Incredibly helpful yes. It will be a big loss. That said…

If the rest of us stay engaged, Ukraine will have what it needs.

I am much more concerned that the US will drop sanctions against Russia. Draining Russia’s bank accounts is critical.

Worse, as countries like Canada move their energy sales away from the US, I can see the US becoming a customer of Russian energy.

Also worried about Germany…

If Trump takes Canada, he better occupy it and not integrate it politically.

Adding 40 million people to the US population without representation seems unlikely. With representation, that many people with Canadian opinions will mean no more Republican House or President for generations. Are the 10 provinces getting senate seats? 2 each? Never another red senate if that happens. Electoral College votes?

Honestly, he is going to add the second largest country in the world as a single state? Good luck.

Will 51st state Canadians be able to move to other parts of the US? Because just the snowbirds already there would turn Florida, Texas, Arizona, and Nevada blue overnight.

I actually agree with you. I think there needs to be a global summit right now. Every country but the US is invited.

We need to figure out how everybody can stop buying or selling to the US immediately. We need to reflow trade to make that happen.

Yes, it will be painful. But, in my view, it needs to happen.

What we have to realize is that, if this were WWII, the one playing Germany is now the US.

The lesson from WWII was that you do not appease the aggressor. Europe has to oppose the US. It does not matter how difficult that seems. They have to.

If not, Trump is not stopping at Ukraine. He will make demands of all of Europe while tariffing and cutting his own European defence spending the entire time.

The time to stand-up to Trump is now.

Back Ukraine. Stand up to the US. Russia is contained as long as we find Ukraine. The USA is not.

Have we forgotten that Trump has no power in Ukraine. All this means is that Europe has to provide a bit more funding.

Honestly, not even that much.

Keep fighting Russia without the US. Tell Trump to pound sand.

The US does not use what you call a CV. A resume is something else. For one thing, there is typically no “profile”.

A resume may not even show a complete work history. It is one ( maybe two ) pages and heavily tailored to what makes sense for the particular job. That is what this post is about.

The problem is the lack of a main page. People want to type “lemmy.com” and find what they are looking for.

The brand promise of Reddit was pretty simple—it was the “Front page of the Internet”.

It did not get popular because of the sub-communities or that there was a sub for everything ( at least not at first ).

Reddit became a thing because it was a single destination that aggregated and curated interesting content from the web that “interesting” people could comment on. If you were only going to make one stop on the Internet, it could be Reddit. Uses could share the main URL by word of mouth and new users would get the same experience. As content grew, Reddit became high ranking in search results.

Lemmy does not really offer the Reddit experience to a new user. New users do not want an offer to find an instance or create one, they want to experience the content, get addicted, and come back.

The closest Lemmy has right now to early Reddit is Lemmy World but how do new users know that? Actually, I guess old.lemmy.world is the closest. :)

If “I have become” and “I am” are both valid translations then “I am become” seems like fairly minor literary license.

I think it sounds cooler. Powerful beings are not supposed to sound ordinary.
