Isn’t that essentially the plot to The Langoliers?

I need you to rephrase all news to make it not so depressing.
How about they publicly warn about it as well as follow up with some criminal charges. We have systems in place to stop all of this but it requires the officials to grow a spine and actually use them.
I didn’t realize beating a cop to death was considered a minor incident.
The real problem is that these people get away with it. There are no consequences to their actions. If no one is going to hold them accountable then it’s not just a belief they have, they really are above the law.
The joke is so obvious there’s no need to comment on it so others, including myself, are using this as an opportunity to post our opinions on the difference between sci-fi and fantasy.
I would argue that science fiction and fantasy are the same thing and the only difference is the explanation for how all the cool stuff works.
Functionally, there’s no real difference between a portal that takes the characters to another world using a wormhole and one that does it through through magic. Just like how there’s no difference between Vulcans/Klingons/Wookies and Elves/Dwarves/Beastmen. Both are intelligent non-humans.
I’m really happy to hear about Dishonored 3. It’s one of my favorite series and I replay it regularly.
However, I’m quite concerned about firearms being used for their primary purpose: killing people.
That’s where you’re sort of wrong. Their advertised, primary purpose is self defense or hunting depending on the weapon both of which are legal actions. Deliberately using a weapon to commit murder outside of these intended purposes is a misuse of the weapon no different than deliberately using any other item outside of its intended purpose to commit crime.
Edit: this is a simplification of the issue but it’s the basic idea.
I really like that pachinko analogy. It gets the basic concept across without having to wade into technical descriptions.
Standardized test scores aren’t good so his solution is to hamper school libraries. This guy must be a genius /s
I’m holding out as long as I can on Win10 for gaming. It’s my hope that Linux gaming will be compatible with most of my games by the time I have to choose between Win11 and Linux. Last time I checked there were a few games I was interested in that weren’t completely compatible with SteamOS.
I saw a comment on another post by a European explaining American politics to another European.
“Their left is our right, their right is our far right, and their far right are literal flag waving Nazis.”
This was way easier than I thought it’d be. I really like the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. It’s Rotten Tomatoes score is 44%.
Exactly this. Most people care about convenience above all else. People want their software to “just work” without having to fiddle with settings or add-ons or anything else.
This is real?!? When I first heard about this, I thought it was a joke.
