  • I was starting to go that way in my late twenties. Started training in the gym. Thirties now, looking and feeling better than at any other point in my life. I beat my high school time for the 1 mile run by 30s recently, I couldn’t believe it.

I’ve seen people much older than you or I totally turn their lives around. I think for most people, it’s not getting older that is the problem, but rather, being sedentary over the long run is just way more destructive than we realize. Even just daily long walks makes a night and day difference

  • Nice! Yeah the only thing I would recommend, especially if you do pick up some strength training, would be to try and balance things through the week and not try to load the majority of your protein into the weekend.

Resistance training puts your body into a “muscle building state”, which will last for like, a couple days after you workout. You also want there to already be protein in your system before you hit the gym.

So even if you’re only strength training on the weekend, it works out that you’re gonna want the high protein on Monday and Tuesday as well, and also pick it up again by at least Thursday’s dinner. Which is basically just every day of the week at that point haha

No pressure of course, just my 2c based on experience getting people going in the gym. It’s more than a night and day difference between the ones who take the protein seriously and the ones who brush it off. I actually emphasize this far more with my clients than the actual training itself haha

  • I don’t know my exact numbers daily but I consume a lot of whey-protein

Hey, different person here and also with a totally unrelated point to what you two were talking about haha

But I train people in the gym and it’s incredibly common for people to be massively under eating protein while also firmly believing that they must be getting enough.

I’m not saying you are! But the pattern is always the same, where my clients will list a few foods with a “protein reputation” and sort of hand wave away the actual number. Then when we actually tally it up they’re shocked to learn they aren’t even at 30% of their daily goal.

Again not trying to insinuate that you’ve been doing anything wrong, just wanted to let you know that that’s a thing I see happen a lot. It’s worth going through a few typical days and calculating your actual number. I’m a vegetarian too fwiw, typically I suggest going like 10% higher than the general recommendation for meat eaters

  • From their FAQ, emphasis mine:

    You shouldn’t get one if…

You need a perfectly polished smartwatch. This project is a labour of love rather than a startup trying to sell millions of watches. There may be some rough edges (literally). Things will get delayed. Some features will not be ready at launch. Things could break. Things could not last as long as you’d like. The only thing we can guarantee is that it will be awesome and a lot of fun! Every time you look down at your watch, you will smile

So yeah, I’d say your take is pretty accurate. At least they’re honest lol

  • Typical rambling argument against random shit nobody said.

You are the one using your limited time to jump to the defense of society’s lowest, most pathetic losers. Look up this guy’s business, he’s a fucking scam artist. Worcester would be significantly better off if they drove him out of town over his dumbass car.

You, yes you personally, should direct that energy into defending trans people and immigrants whose lives are actually threatened by violence instead of wasting it on wealthy people who are merely made “uncomfortable” by people telling them to fuck off lmao. You know, since you are the one who claims to be so bothered by hate and everything.

Or just continue to hallucinate and argue with yourself about the deep philosophical trimmings of whether or not anybody at all should be allowed to experience any form of pleasure if even one among us anywhere in the world is suffering. That’ll come in handy in the future I’m sure, especially if you keep bringing it up when nobody asked

  • I agree hate is a terrible thing. Tbh though it’s ridiculous to try and direct your empathy towards the richest most unaffected people getting flamed for engaging in their luxury hobbies while vulnerable minorities are increasingly being targeted by actual violence.

Maybe luxury car owners, high end computer enthusiasts, and adults larping as soldiers with their expensive little toy guns should wake the fuck up to the situation that is developing around them if they care so much about peace and love. Hope you see my point

  • I’d be curious about what the cost actually is?

Right so I mean—the cost of research and analysis and the entire process of determining the possible risks is money that simply must be spent either way, even on products that are ultimately deemed suitable for market. That’s the entire purpose of the FDA, to find these things out.

So we’re really just looking at the costs associated with the ban itself. Such as the labor hours of FDA employees setting it up? Communicating it to people? I agree with your concerns I’m just trying to get a sense of what we actually spent to arrive here

  • So this is already a known thing the tobacco companies use

They gradually make their cigarettes stronger, over the course of a couple years. During this time smokers will tend to stick with their habits instead of reducing the number of cigs they smoke. Thus, they gradually build higher tolerance.

Then, companies gradually reduce their nicotine levels, again over a couple years. During this time, smokers tend to increase their consumption to maintain the nicotine level they’re used to, because otherwise they start getting mild withdrawal symptoms.

Then, once they’ve formed a new habit of smoking more often, the cycle repeats, thus getting them used to ever higher and higher levels.

Notice it doesn’t really matter where the nicotine cap is placed. What we actually need is for the nicotine content to be listed on the box. Companies then wouldn’t be able to get away with reducing it because people would see that their cigarettes are weaker

The fact that you’ve been reduced to blabbering about such mundane things in the style of “the ghosts in pac-man technically had AI” tells us everything we need to know here. Have fun arguing with me in the shower about whether or not current trends are just a result of marketing executives finally being liberated to appropriately label the AI they’ve been using for 70 years

Those features are literally unrelated to AI, just so you know. It’s comparing sensor outputs to a table. Like all modern laundry machines. The inclusion of “AI” on the label is purely to take advantage of people like you who instantly believe whatever they’re told, even of it’s as outlandish as “your laundry has been optimized” lol
