Okay I checked again and although the Los Angeles metro area contains over 10 million residents the LAPD is only responsible for about 4.2 million of them, because for instance Beverly Hills and Santa Monica have their own. Meanwhile NYPD is responsible for about 8.5 million people. So that’s twice the number and you are correct. My point is not completely invalid however, because NYPD has 4 times the personpower. And there’s still the matter of distances.
