• until recently I was using a record player from 1970.
• I regularly play Victrolas from as far back as 1902.
• my house itself was built in 1900.
• the HVAC for half my house was manufactured in 1987.
• the toilet in my downstairs bathroom was manufactured in 1927.
• the wiring in my house is old knob and tube from the 1930s. some of the switches are also from around that era.
• other wiring is from the 1950s.
• the doors and doorknobs are from 1900, though it seems I am the first to perform any maintenance on them in over 100 years.
• I have an original NES set up in my office from 1987 that I or my kids play
• one of my refrigerators was manufactured in 1997

the list is endless.

Although it is still not around we were given a toaster for our wedding that was given to a couple for their wedding back in the forties. We had it for several years until one of our friends decided to cook a bagel in it and melted the cord. I ended up taking it apart and replaced the cord. We had it another several years until it was lost in a move. I like to think it is somewhere still toasting 80 years later.

I have clothes that are over 20 years old that I keep thinking I might lose with weight to for into again.

My 23 year old pickup just kicked the bucket this spring.

My GE water heater has a metal plate on it stating it meets all the new 1945 safety regulations.

My house was built in 1875, according to the local historical society, or 1912 according to the county. I suspect the difference is that in 1875 you didn’t need to file building permits with the county, but by the time they put the addition on in 1912 you did.

My Bachelor’s Degree is over 20 years old, but I’ve never used that.

I’ve been enjoying my PS2 a lot lately

Iron skillets are the oldest thing I personally bought and still use, going on 40 years for the oldest.

But I also have some furniture from my grandma, 1930s-40s, and the house I live in was mostly built in the 1940s.

A lot of the MP3 files I listen to.

Oh yeah I have a KitchenAid mixer that was my grandmother’s, not sure how old it is exactly, but it’s at least 25 if not 30…

My computer desk is a hand-me-down from my dad, it was already old 20 years ago…

Quite a bit of our kitchen stuff: Braun stick blender from the 1980s, Cuisinart from the early 1990s, my mother’s osterizer and electric frying pan from who knows when. I’m sure there are more. Until very recently, my husband had his coffee maker from since he started uni in 1979. Had 2 or 3 replacement carafs but it still brewed a pot until recently. My sewing machine is from the 1980s. A few outdoor and garage tools have made it a long time as well. The hedge trimmer has be 40+ yo. Ditto for the table saw. The oldest is a waffle maker from the 1940s. We have a couple Texas Instrument calcs from the 80s. Makes one sad when you realize how long those items keep working versus most things today that are toast after a year or two.

My Panasonic microwave is 22, still going strong. Cast iron cookware and stainless pots i got from my mum (50+). Sunbeam hand mixer and Braun immersion blender from the 80s. Lots of glassware. Fridge, stove, washer, dryer.

2 steel desks from the 40s - they’re in the basement now, but the drawers glide like new.

No plans to replace anything unless it breaks. New stuff isn’t made well.

Carbon Steel wok - over thirty years old, works better than it did when brand new.

All my vehicles. Slide rules. Drafting table & drafting equipment. Fountain pens. Typewriters. Tanker desks. Cutlery, pots, pans, the fancy dishes (Thomas Rosenthal Arcta, close to 60yo), a fair number of tools, a few pieces of furniture. A large number of hardcover books. And likely a whole bunch of stuff I have forgotten is that old.

My car, a Renault Clio II, and a Maxi-matic toaster

I still have a stuffed animal from when I was a kid and a couple of plates from when I lived with my parents. I had to drop a lot of things I wanted to keep, I didn’t because they were utterly infested and I didn’t have the spoons to try and clean it out for when I moved out.

French Press. It was my grandmother’s, kept it after she died.

The brand, Melior, was bought by Bodum in 1991, and all French Press production went under the Bodum brand (the old Melior model became what is now known as the “Chambord” line), so it is at least 35 years old, possibly older.

I contacted Bodum to know if they could give me an approximate age, but they couldn’t (or didn’t want to bother searching). All I know it is a version with Pyrex glass, which may help a knowledgeable person to more precisely date it, but I kinda put my curiosity on pause for the time being.

Other than that, some of my grandfather’s vinyls are quite old too (at least one of them is from the 80’s), and I got some 20+ yo cassettes, some old mixtapes (back when mixtapes where actual tapes 😆).

I have an old Caban which is probably at least 40 years old (was my grandfather’s, once again).

Oh, and some kitchen tools made in West Germany 😆.
