The only story I have here is back when I was married, we went out to eat with one of her old friends and her husband. I generously offered to pick up the bill without looking at it, and it was about $200, which surprised me. We didn’t have a lot to drink. We were far from rich, I had to put it on a credit card and we paid it off eventually.

I never did that again.
Reminds me of “The Necklace.”
