IS IT A JACKAL? JACKAL! JACKAL! IS IT A JACKAL? IS IT A JACKAL? JACKAL! JACKAL! JACKAL!!!
IT WASN’T RIGHT THE FIRST TIME YOU SAID IT, WHY THE HELL WOULD IT BE RIGHT THE NEXT TEN TIMES!? … GOD!
Taxonomists sort land-dwelling carnivorous mammals into two distinct groups: Feliformia (cat-like), Caniformia (dog-like). In other words, they’re all either cats or dogs.
And they are absolutely right. At first pass, these just looked like regular dogs to me lol
There is a third suborder in Carnivora - the Pinnipeds, aka seals. But convince me a seal isn’t just a chubby, fin-footed water dog.
Seals have whiskers, therefore they are to be classified as Feliformia, without a doubt.
