    What percent of people celebrating do you think consider this for a single second? I’d wager that to most, it’s simply an excuse to have some drinks and some fun. As with most holidays.

    Why do so many people feel the need to shit on absolutely everything these days?

      I have no problem with people celebrating the holiday. I’ll be going to a small party with friends. That does not change that this is ostensibly what Independence Day is about.

        Yeah I get it. But I think most holidays have a large separation from the actual origins.

        I’m atheist and will happily celebrate Christmas and Easter.

          I’m the same way. I understand what you mean about being critical towards harmless things people enjoy, because usually it includes shitting on the people enjoying themselves. I try to maintain a degree of separation between that thing and the people that enjoy it
