"We need policymakers to come together, agree to reduce deficits ... and put our national debt on a downward sustainable path as a share of the economy."
Jesus up-jumpin’ Christ in a bucket. These idiots are unbelievable.
Not to undermine your point, but single family homes are the most inefficient way to house people. They contribute to urban sprawl, consume more energy, and are overall bad for the environment. Cooperatively owned apartments, rowhouses, and other medium/high density housing would house far more people for the same amount of money while reducing climate impact and incentivizing walkable communities
I find a billion to be too hard to conceptualize, but the amount becomes more salient when stated in houses. Too bad I can’t just circle on a map $1,000,000,000 worth of property for a better understanding of the total amount.
1B = 1,000 homes = 4,000 people housed
50B = 50,000 homes = 200,000 people housed
20week of this * 200,000 people a week that could be housed = 4,000,000 people that could have be housed
