DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin denied the claims that Bovino had been relieved of his duties as Border Patrol ‘commander at large,’ which was first reported by The Atlantic

Border Patrol “commander at large” Gregory Bovino has been removed from his role and will return back to his old job in California, according to reports.

Bovino, who has been heavily involved in crackdowns on immigration across the country, will return to El Centro and is expected to retire soon, a DHS official and two other sources told The Atlantic.

It comes following the recent chaotic events in Minneapolis, in which two protesters have been shot dead by federal agents in less than three weeks. Renee Nicole Good was shot by an ICE agent on January 7 and ICU nurse Alex Pretti was killed Saturday.

The apple is rotten to the core. Taking this sadistic MF out isn’t going to fix anything when they’ve given all the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys badges and paychecks.

Hey Greg? Why don’t you go back to MN afterwards and walk the streets? See how much safer you must feel, how effective you were that you should put on your SS trench coat and go tour what is clearly just another US state. Should be fine no? I mean you made it safer there right?

Scum like Bovino don’t live with actual risk like the rest of us. The current admin will protect him. He is also wealthy already and after his exit can simply pay for ongoing security by jumping into the rightwing media grift machine. He will shit out a book, do some podcasts and the LEO conference speaking circuit, and never need to worry for his safety like the people he and his fascist organization have threatened and brutalized.

Unless he’s on some kind of regular protection I wouldn’t be surprised if someone in California takes it upon themselves to dispatch of this guy. Unfortunate that he (most likely) won’t ever stand trial.

    Calling it now:

This is a bid from the GOP to convince Dems to fund DHS and stop the shutdown from happening.

And the dumb ass Dems might actually take the bait and pretend its a victory

Calling the democrats dumb like they don’t know exactly what they’re doing too is why the US is collapsing. They’re not dumb, they’re complicit. Always have been. The other side of the coin is still the same coin.

The Dems have made a list of demands about ICE, the DHS and Border Patrol, that ultimately amount to not even a wrist slap.

The GOP is refusing to move an inch on it.

The Dems are now threatening a shutdown if their demands aren’t met.

Now the Dems are colossal pussies, so they’ll likely capitulate again. That being said, Trump and the rest of the fascists know they took the bigger reputation L with the last shutdown, and they’re afraid of another.

Yes, but ICE and CPB are already funded, and would continue to operate during a government shutdown, unless I’m mistaken.

Good, but ICE is still operating in Twin Cities and is also targeting to Maine now. The pressure on elected officials to abolish ICE and DHS must continue. DHS funding must be stripped.

Bovino was alway going to be a fall guy and this isn’t nearly enough punishment for him. Jonathan Ross is still at large and the officers that executed Alex Pretti are still out there.
