It’s fair to call the Cape Tarkhankut site the linchpin of Russian air and naval defenses across the Black Sea. Which is why the Ukrainian armed forces blew it up.
I remember reading recently that Western powers assessed why the counter offensive wasn’t working as well as it could, and they determined it was troop placement I believe. I’m willing to bet they provided advice here to get them back on track.
I’d say that counter offensive is going fairly well.
It seems like they’ve had the patience to do things very deliberately.
