Right? I’m a nerd, I learned how to pronounce gif before the average person knew what they were. It’s not my fault I read about its creation.

The guy that invented the GIF said it is pronounced Jif. And of course that is a common pronunciation for “gi” words, like gin, giraffe, ginger, giant, ginseng, and so on.
And before you say “but the g stands for graphics” tell me about what the p in MPEG stands for.

I think the hard g sounds harsh and I hate it.

I’ve opted to pronounce it either Jgif or Gjif, that way I piss off twice as many people.
