    Winters here are also painfully dry! You use up a lot of moisturizer otherwise your skin will be super dry too.

    I got more complaints about winter too, like snow can be blindingly white, snow blindness is a real condition. Oh don’t forget about the lake chill effect which means even more snow and colder temperatures. Don’t get me started on windchill and how much being deep in the negative temperatures suck. Also shouldn’t leave out how when snow compacts, thaws and refreezes it becomes super hard and dangerous is you slip on it. As yes that can be slippery too and is a real danger since you can break bones from it. Last thing I really want to add is that seasonal depression during the winter months can be absolutely brutal. Since you get less sunlight and everything is basically black and white it is a depressing as hell place to be.

    The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. I would not want to live in a desert but you also should not be overly romanticizing winter. Fresh snow and icicles are pretty and all but all the other stuff really makes it less enjoyable.

    Who would want to go to the desert over the tropics or the snow?

    As someone who lives in an area with snow I’d like to say that snow really sucks to deal with. The only good thing I have to say about it is that fresh snow looks pretty. Otherwise it’s a pain in the ass to deal with. When shoveling it to clear paths you realize how heavy it can be. Black ice in the winter is also a pain, can hardly tell there is ice there but you will slip all the same.

    It’s sadly not really surprising to me that suicides are high in the foster care system. It’s hard to get good parents into the system when they receive extremely little support from child protective services. It’s also not surprising that child protective services doesn’t offer a lot of support. The foster care system and child protective services system are deliberately left underfunded and typically have their funding cut each year. Which leads to their flaws being made worse each year since they can’t get the funding needed to fix the problems.

    I can almost guarantee that this data center will be powering more ai slop rather than provide anything even remotely useful.

    90x power draw of the city is still an immense increase to the system regardless of the fact the city is small. That means higher bills for the people who were already living there. Let alone the fact that a lot of that power draw will be made of fossil fuel usage only further speeding up climate change. Let alone the fact that the power will not be produced locally meaning power has to be brought it from further away which means more lost to heat through the wires.

    Then we should also consider the insane water draw of data centers. They can easily take the water pressure out for people living close enough to the facility. Forget how wasteful they are with the water and how that will only speed up water wars. Or how that will increase the cost of water to the local community who again was there first.

    This is also ignoring the insane light pollution that will come off of the data center as they will happily have really bright lights on 24/7.

    Some data centers are necessary, but not ones that power ai slop. We also need a lot of regulation on data centers to prevent them from harming the communities who were there first. To make them be responsible for the pollution they are causing and make them responsible for the water they waste everyday.
