Why can’t the UK just deal with Iran directly? Why pander to an ungrateful US?

He couldn’t care less. They probably told him to calm the markets instead.

This is absolutely f*%#ing insane…
Kharg island is tiny. Really tiny. Any troops trying to hold it are going to get hit with drones, missiles and artillery constantly.

This sounds an awful lot like Iran is not only not losing the war, but is actually winning the war.

Trump expects the world to go to war with Iran. What will actually happen is that the world will re-establish diplomacy with Iran and offer sanctions relief to end the blockade.
Without war reparations, American ships will forever be barred from sailing the strait, and Gulf states will likely start distancing themselves from the US and re-assess hosting American bases and troops.
Trump’s victory looks an awful lot like a strategic defeat that sees the US pull out of the Middle East and leave Iran in a more powerful position then before.

Right now it is in the interest of other NATO countries to see the US weakened militarily and politically. The US stopped being an ally as soon as Trump threatened to annex Canada and Greenland.

Trump probably reads Zelensky’s offer as Zelensky gloating or belittling him. If I were Zelensky I would be exploiting the situation to the max, by constantly highlighting how helpless and incompetent the Americans are in the face of Iranian drones and how awesome the Ukrainian fighting force actually is.

That’ll show ‘em! I’m sure they’ll re-open the strait of Hormuz any day now…

Unbelievable…Trump’s would rather save his ego than let Ukraine help save American lives.
My brother in-law actually has a diagnosed personality disorder and the way Trump behaves, especially while under duress, is identical to how my brother in-law would react.
If Trump indeed suffers from a personality disorder, which I am convinced is the case, then he is literally incapable of backing down.
This is an absolute nightmare scenario for the US. Trump won’t stop until he is forced to stop. We will see Trump make even more crucial mistakes and see him try and escalate this as far as he possible can.
Oracle completely missed the jump to cloud and, like Informatica or SAS, it’s been outcompeted by the likes of Microsoft, Google, Snowflake and Amazon for years now.
But hey, that’s not going to go down well with the shareholders, so just say you’re cutting jobs because you’re streamlining your business through the marvels of AI…
That said, who exactly are the people that are being let go? I can imagine the old guard still working at ‘their’ company, but firing young engineers hardly seems like a winning strategy
