  • Honestly, there’s bigger fish to fry (pun only moderately intended).

If we didn’t have war in Ukraine, and war AND genocide in Gaza and two African countries at the moment, and then whatever the hell is happening in Venezuela and ascertaining its ramifications, along with stupid inflation on just what we need to live, and multiple generations locked out of homeownership or possibly even retirement due to a corporate greed-created housing crisis and predatory student loans, and a SCOTUS that is bent on removing the rights of just about anyone who isn’t a straight, white “Christian” man…then yeah, death penalty talk should have been on the table.

But, Harris is a politician, and all politicians have to focus on whichever sound bites can bring over those who are - astonishingly - undecided at this point. It’s naive to think that any candidate who has it “all” will get the nomination. That’s how Hilary got the nomination over Bernie, and it’s how we got Biden as well.

  • 😂 Yeah, no.

Here’s the thing: I’ve been an iPhone user since the 3GS (over 14 years) and I’m highly skeptical that this price will sell. KotOR retails at $10 on the App Store as does San Andreas, and both go on sale down to $5 and lower very often. I believe the whole bundle for Final Fantasy 1-6 is like $65 and then FF7 is $15 or $16. Who is the audience for a $60 iOS game??

I recall when BioShock was originally available on the App Store. For one, it cost like maybe $15 at the most, but then it got pulled from the store and then the App Store made the change to 64-bit apps, meaning that even if you’d bought BioShock previously, it would no longer run on newer devices.

Over this last decade, I’ve watched fun, old school games get released for iOS and then pulled and then re-released as crappier MTX versions, if they got re-released at all, countless times. How is RE4 going to be any different?

Not sure if it’s an Apple issue or a developer issue, but for a $60 price tag, there’s got to be at least some sort of guarantee that an iOS update or App Store change won’t render the game suddenly unplayable on my device. iPhone 15 might be ready for AAA games but the App Store and iOS in general are not.

  • I realize this has become a non-tenable business for Netflix, I just wish they were willing to sell their stock to another company that wants to provide the same service.

I wish they would sell their stock as well and let someone else pick up the pieces. I’ve had this service since like 2006 or something; literally since before Blockbuster closed. I’ve watched hundreds of shows and films through them and even as I was trying to clear out my queue in this last couple months, there were still a ton that you just couldn’t find elsewhere.

The next closest thing will be to buy off Amazon or something as Used and just sell them back when I’m done, but it’s not the same. A bunch of my friends laughed when I said I was sad this service was ending because they were like “wtf? Who gets/uses DVDs??” But, this service has been a major source of entertainment for me over the years.

Like, you can always pirate anything popular, but getting into random French films that you’d never see elsewhere…The streaming collection has never been quite as robust because of various rights, and it’s even worse now that everyone has their own streaming service. This is very likely going to be the move that leads me to finally cancel Netflix entirely.
