Plastic may be so, but glass recycling has been a thing for decades (depending on where you are), aliminium recycling is all well, same for paper (if grease free) There’s also wooden alternatives for a lot of plastic/silicon stuff, and wood can be reused/burned/mulched.

So in a way it IS your responsibility - to give up plastic

  • I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, this pretty much confirms that the leading parties have been colluding to manipulate elections. The ideal situation would have been him getting his ass whoopped by being voted out. On the other, there was a non-zero chance that he might actually have won.

Either way, the shitshow is not even close to being over. These parties make up 32% of our current parliament, and they’re likely to grow after this stunt, so we’ll have to deal with this crap again during the next election cycle, or sooner.

  • This is so sad. I thought the whole paper mail infrastructure was essentially eternal due to its importance.

Letter numbers have fallen since the start of the century from 1.4 billion to 110 million last year.

110 million is still A LOT of paper letters. Shame the service will be gone.

PostNord has weathered years of financial struggles and last year was running a deficit.

Again, I thought this was a national strategic resource, regardless of profit. Over here in europe’s armpit the national post has been running at a loss for nigh on 40 years, and it’s still kept afloat, for better or worse.

  • Can’t say I’m surprised. There were credible rumous that the US pressured our gvt to release them. Word on the street is that they “traded” handing these two over in exchange for the US shutting up about the arrest of the russian puppet candidate. These both happened in the same day, so there may some truth to that. Honestly this wouldn’t feel like that bad of a deal - one manchurian candidate for two instagram pimps. It’s immoral, cowardly and corrupt, but these are the times we’re living in.

Just remember this every time a US official blabbers stuff about other countries’ election interference.

  • Wow, leave it to redditors to make change without actually making change. A few of those subs had open discussions on instituting a ban and they discovered x links were in the dozens per year. Musk is definitely gonna feel that. What they should have done is ban all twitter images as well, those fuckers make up 3/4 of posts on /r/popular. Or ban/restrict musk news, because it feels like the remainng 1/4 posts are “news” that cover musk, including dozens of discussions on whether the nazi cheated in fucking videogames or not ( same as here come to think of it ). But no, they’re addicted to those and unable to make meaningful changes, so they’re left with these halfcocked “bans”.

  • Not sure what you’re fighting me about - I can tell you for a fact that we had local cronies ( in Cluj or Constanta for example ) get away scot-free after taking people’s advance payments on new apartment complexes, never building anything and just delaying proceedings until the trial closed. Or politicians’ sons that got away with vehicular manslaughter and DUIs simply because of influence. Now I don’t know how much influence the tates have, but at the very least they could’ve hired competent local attorneys that know how to game the system. And the justice system here is laughably corrupt.

  • He said Sunday he expects criticism from the West of his conversation with Putin, but stated that “Serbia is a sovereign country which makes its own decisions.”

He also thanked Russia “for providing sufficient quantities of gas for Serbia at favorable prices.”

Ironic lol. Well placed paragraphs AP. And congratulations Serbia, you’re on the path to achieve that greatest honor of overtaking belarus in becoming russia’s top bitch.

Still, I get why vucic is playing at both ends, Serbia is a hard country to run, and so far they’ve been ok-ish despite not having advantages like being in the EU, Schengen or the EEA.

Belgrade’s nationalist authorities marked the liberation date with a display of the pro-Russian sentiment, with thousands marching through Belgrade waving Russian flags and chanting slogans.

This I don’t get though. For a nationalist government supported by nationalist serbs you’d think they noticed by now how russia treats their neighbors and vassals. If the russian border was on the Danube, you’d bet your sweet nationalist asses they would invade Serbia, because that’s what russia has always done. They just take shit.
