Turns out that I made some people mad (ok, really really mad) and they follow me around to downvote, regardless of subject. Then they post stats of how many downvotes I get. I think there should be legit ones, just like that. Because that seemed the best way to go if you gotta go.

It’s crazy to me that we don’t have sensible right-to-die laws here. I was reading about one somewhere (Sweden maybe? I can’t recall now), where there’s a cool pod. It was placed in a beautiful forest. Woman was in chronic pain all her life, so she goes in, pushes 3 buttons, a gas painlessly makes her go to sleep and die. The company picks up and cleans up.

It was awesome! Legit we need that here in the US.

This is a UK article, but the little girl, Cimarron, and her father, Ben Thomas, who both tragically took their own lives, were Americans and lived in a small town in West Virginia. Little Cimarron killed herself out of shame. 18 months later, the father killed himself because he couldn’t get over her loss.

This is a horrible story, so read with caution. I wish I hadn’t read it, but people need to know stuff like this happens so that they can better protect their own kids.

I don’t think it had anything to do with Odinism, BUT the bodies were arranged in a weird way. And the cops have been keeping a lot of evidence pretty quiet. So we’ll see.

I’ve been following the story for a while now. She hung two of her kids up with a dog leash. Then blamed on one of the victims, saying he committed suicide and took his sister with him.

She doesn’t really seem very remorseful, but at least she’s going to prison for life.

Exactly this. I have pretty much the same exact story from that same time frame! Now my house is paid off, so I’m glad they didn’t tempt me.

Yeah, it sucks, but honestly, this has been happening for a long time now. Way before current president, last one, one before that, and one before that. lol

People have always bought stuff they can barely afford.

When I bought my house, I waited until I could get something that wouldn’t take up more than 30% of my after-tax income. I found a small fixer-upper in a nice neighborhood, and everyone thought I was crazy for not getting something bigger.

Now my house is paid off, and they’re still stressing over their bigger, more expensive homes. Now to be honest, my house still kind of a piece of crap. Some rooms still have 1970’s wood paneling. No granite countertops for me. But fuck that noise, now that it’s paid off, I don’t owe anyone shit.

Times are tough, no doubt, but people make mistakes whether the economy is good or bad.

Yeah, that’s the thing that stands out for me too. 19 freaking times. Over and over. Horrible.

Totally agree with this. BUT just know that for some Lemmy’s, they get suspicious pretty quick.

My account is less than a month old. I found a vast hole of the kind of content I want to see, so I started posting a lot. Starting communities, replying to replies on my posts, etc.

And pretty much every day I get called variations of being a troll, spammer, trumper and/or russian asset.

Doesn’t keep me from posting, and I think it’s hilarious. But just a heads up to anyone reading. Tho this thread is old so maybe no one will. But I found this thread just now, so… lol
