As a native Nebraskan, I take great offense at the “northeast Nebraska’s biggest city” phrasing. What a weirdly specific way to refer to an otherwise average small town. We’re already a joke, why rub it in and imply Omaha or Lincoln don’t exist?

Am Nebraskan, can confirm we just really like volleyball. Look up sellout streaks for both football and volleyball if you don’t want to take my word on that.
We didn’t set out to break the record, that only became the narrative the last week or so when it became clear it might happen.
Good chance we do this again and still get 90k people to attend!
If your employer fires you suddenly for no reason, there’s no real consequences.
Depends on the industry and location. If they do that a few times in relatively small industry, or in a captured but small market, word gets around and suddenly that company has difficulty hiring in the future.
I will just never understand how so many people look at a broken down car on the side of the highway, then think “what if whatever happened to that vehicle was the same, but 5,000 feet in the air?”
They are not regular civilians, they are public servants and act on behalf of the government. If they want to give up qualified immunity and other special protections that normal citizens don’t have, then we can revisit this definition.
Similar to how FBI or IRS agents are not the same as regular citizens but also aren’t members of any military branch.
That’s just straight up racism.
Kansas state patrol needs to step in and take over this situation, hopefully ending with the prosecution of the police chief for abuse of power and manslaughter. If they don’t act soon, the FBI needs to investigate both organizations.
Not really. “Abolish the police [as they currently exist]” is just step 1.
It actually does, which you would know if you even glanced at the sources I provided.
A woman is five times more likely to be murdered when her abuser has access to a gun.
I just genuinely don’t know if writers thought that they should be getting more. And if so, why?
What do you mean by “more”, and relative to what? The main complaint from writers are that in recent years the trend has been them all getting paid significantly less. Not just a few percentage points, more like 1-10% of what they used to get.
So, they want to get paid the same as they used to, which is more than currently but not “more” when looked at from a longer time frame.
Where did I say that?
It’s not fair that they have degrees that don’t count for anything here.
Fair to whom? Are those degrees from institutions that are regarded as credible by the local country? If not, what evidence is there that the lack of value given to certain foreign degrees is improper or otherwise not based in reality?
owning a lot of guns or buying ammo in bulk isn’t really any indication of domestic violence
Good thing there isn’t a known correlation between gun ownership and higher rates of domestic homicide, right? That would totally destroy your argument. How embarrassing that would be.
The previous comment did most of the work for you. Writers, actors, crew, and generally everyone involved in the entertainment industry does not have a salary gig like office workers. They aren’t working consistently–which has only gotten worse in the streaming era–and thus rely on royalties as part of their total compensation.
So, in summary, they are completely different situations that cannot be directly compared.
Do you believe the current version of policing in America can be successfully reformed? Can the current officers be sufficiently re-trained? Who is going to patrol the streets until that happens?
When people say abolish the police, they are saying that the current system has to be entirely dismantled and replaced. You actually appear to agree with the end objective.
The coverup is always worse than the crime.
Is that mandatory? Pretty sure it’s a service offered to former Presidents, but Trump could probably just say no.
He hasn’t (and probably won’t) do that because he likes feeling important, and because he ain’t paying for their services.
Kim isn’t crazy. He was raised from birth believing he is the divine ruler of a people and received a modern education. He is acting in the best interests of the state he leads. It just happens that most of us on this platform likely live in a part of the world where those interests don’t make sense or are hard to see or just don’t seem important. But that’s an “us” problem.
His public persona in the West is a combination of propaganda from multiple angles, much like we see around Russia and China, too.
I’m not saying that he is a good leader or has the health of North Koreans in mind, but be aware that not everything you hear about living in North Korea is necessarily accurate (and not necessarily due to outside actors, either).
How long would Trump actually survive if he lived in North Korea? Do they have McDonalds and Diet Coke?
Flying cars are the stupidest idea, especially since helicopters have existed the entire time and everyone just refused to accept that fact.
