You can just use analog security cameras and a DVR of your choosing. Don’t let the word analog fool you, the cameras are available in up to 4K resolution. Since the video is recorded to the DVR and not some random company’s server it is safe. It requires a little more setup and know-how but it is by no means difficult. Check the surveillance section on B&H’s website. There are tons of options.

I agree, having a bit more memory than you typically use is a good idea, there is a point of diminishing returns though. If you typically use less than 16GB of memory, buying 64GB isn’t really giving you much of an advantage because the majority of that memory will sit unused. You could argue future proofing, but the fact is you would be better off waiting to purchase that extra memory when you actually need it as it will (usually) be cheaper by that time.

I work for local government and we were recently ordered to return to office because leadership was concerned we would look “lazy” to the public if we were allowed to work from home… I don’t work directly with the public in any shape or form.
