4 months agoThat actually depends entirely on where you’re at. That would be positively tropical to someone in Minnesota, but to someone in Arizona I almost can guarantee you that would be freezing.

As others have already stated, it’s expensive to start, expensive to maintain, and very high-risk.
Most startups fail within the first two years, and an organization that doesn’t focus first and foremost on profit is I imagine even more likely to fail within those first couple of years.
Just to be clear here, nothing has ever been pure or sacred. We’re only told that as children.

I really like the term “Science Fantasy”. It acknowledges the parallels with Science Fiction but respects how they differ as well.
IIRC Temu makes its business from super cheaply priced items.
Super cheaply priced generally means either super cheap quality or some really iffy labor rights violations* in third-world countries (I know that term isn’t the term to use nowadays since it’s a cold war relic but I can’t think of a better term—lemme know if you know of one), usually both.
*Up to and including slave labor. (Yay capitalism!)

Companies need to learn that you can rollback policies, but you cannot rollback loss of goodwill.
Too bad modern capitalism is all about short-term profit over long-term anything. Who cares if you burn down the forest as long as you can walk away with the wood, right?
