More generally with Tesla it is difficult to make a business case for the existence of the company right now, since Musk alienated his entire potential consumer base. I wouldn’t be surprised if the company gets sold into parts in the text two years or so.
Corporations and their owners thought that Trump would boost the stock market through tax cuts. Instead the market is tanking due to his moronic tariffs and Russia-appeasement strategy. Now that it’s clear he won’t be making them money they have rediscovered their “morals”.
Trade creates value in both countries, so by extension tariffs destroy value in both countries. Since Canada is much smaller than the US (in population), the tariffs hurt Canada more than the US. There is good reason for Canada to be extremely upset, and counter tariffs on the US are well justified.

Are you kidding? The major achievement of the pact has been to stop wars among its members, something that the US highly appreciated after the WW. All presidents up to Trump have been in strong favour of the EU, and EU expansion. Obama campaigned against Brexit. Bush junior strongly pushed for expansion into Eastern Europe. They all realised how much they benefited from having strong allies. Incredible how quickly that lesson has been forgotten.

I agree in principle, but in practice it’s tricky. You must have courts that are strong enough to throw out election results if foreign interference can be proven. This has recently happened in Romania, but there are also many examples in which these laws were meaningless. The US is the obvious case where the 2016 election result should have been thrown out, but nothing happened. For the Brexit vote I think some pretty meaningless fines were handed out.
Another question is what should happen with foreign interference that is not financial in nature. For instance, Musk speaking at AFD, or the Meta algorithms pushing political content.
This could actually be a good starting point for a nationwide action. Very few collective actions are as effective as a nationwide teacher strike. The call to action is also relatively straightforward. Something like “D.C. shouldn’t regulate what we teach in our classrooms “.
It must be horrific to talk to Trump in person. He smells horrible, his moods swing constantly, he has incredibly stupid takes on issues you are an expert in, and he requires constant praise. If you take your hot wife with you he’ll be ogling her constantly. Nurses probably go out of their way to see another patient when he’s at the hospital.

This is not just an issue in translation. Anybody who summarises his speeches in English will struggle to extract the meaning. Reporting should always mention this issue in the first line. A disclaimer like: «it’s difficult to make heads or tails from Trumps speech do to his incoherent speech. Below is our best attempt.» should be a preface to all reporting.

Yes, that’s why social media should I.) allow downvoting, ii.) use an algorithm that reduces the prominence of downvoted posts and iii.) actively remove bot accounts that attempt to game the voting system. Most social media do none of these things, and in fact push controversial takes.

The sound of Musk is music to my ears. He is an incompetent and overconfident. A great way to get nothing done. Of course voters do not hold politicians to their promises, but if they did hiring Musk would be a great way to ensure failure.
The Kamala campaign was very careful to NOT say that the economy was doing great. It was Biden who essentially had this as his campaign strategy. I wonder why this piece of misinformation is so persistent on this platform. It is always mentioned by people without reference to a source.
