Ah yes Elon Musk the Joseph Goebbels of a trump administration
Trump made the remarks Thursday during a campaign stop at the New York Economic Club. “At the suggestion of Elon Musk, who has given me his complete and total endorsement…I will create a government efficiency commission tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government,” Trump said. “Elon has agreed to head the task force,” Trump added while noting that the task force would be responsible for “making recommendations for drastic reforms” to the government.
Not sure I love the sound of “drastic reforms to the government”. But if we’re stupid enough to give gim the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania again, it’s what we deserve.
Sounds like Project 2025, the thing he claims not to know about.
That’s exactly what it will be. “It is totally not Project 2025 because Musk made it up after heading the task force, right… right? Wait, he came up with all the exact same actions as Project 2025? That must be coincidence.”
As Gerrymandered as most red states are now and all the voter suppression tactics, I don’t know “stupid enough” would be the cause. The popular vote WILL go to Kamala. It’s whether the gaming of the electoral system can be overcome.
Honestly, the fact that it’s even close enough for that to matter is a damning indictment of our society. How January 6 wasn’t the end of Trump’s political career and the start of a prison term, I’ll never know.
Gerrymandering affects the house. It’s the electoral college that affects the presidential election.
Those of us ignorant enough to vote for Trump also vote for the Greg Abbott’s and Ron DeSantis’ of the country. It’s not a popular position these days but we, the little people, includes the poo-brained asshats voting for Trump and the fascist takeover of the American South. But they’re too stupid (or more accurately, willfully ignorant) to understand the scope of what voting for maga and maga-adjacent Republicans really means.
I guess through a kinder lens our maga neighbors don’t have the perspective required to understand the truth of the world they live in. Some might be wholly incapable, but most just don’t care enough to try. But the societal bubble the average maga voter lives it makes the ethos look pretty appealing. The rhetorical techniques used by maga media and personalities are like psyops level effective.
It would be irresponsible and incorrect to lay it all at the feet of voters or politicians of any political party. Every American is responsible for what’s going on in the country right now.

Step 1) Rename the country to something more hip. Possibly USX.
Step 2) Have everyone sign a pledge to work twice as hard.
Step 3) Cut everything that has a budget.
Step 4) Profit?
Don’t forget to dock their pay if they do something unproductive like sleep.
He will make it as efficient as he did with Twitter!
It all starts with a name change, as always. Maybe “Holy Roman empire” will be dramatic enough for his tastes.

Governments should not be measured in “value” of any financial aspect, but rather the quality of living of the citizens they govern. Electing a leader of questionable human rights morals would be a disaster.
“Value” is not a term reserved for financial discussions. Don’t ruin the joke.
Nothing says “efficiency” like a racist, drug addicted manchild with untreated ADHD who never sleeps.
This just goes to show that nobody ever graduates school. What happens in elementary school in terms of popularity contests reoccurs in junior high and high school, college, businesses, religions, and governments. Humanity is still in its adolescence and until we actually mature as a species, we will constantly be on the brink of death or we will find a way to make it happen.

Elon Musk nonsense aside, a Department for Government Efficiency is honestly not a bad idea. Apparently, the military is tremendously wasteful, as are most other government departments. This could genuinely save some taxpayer money and free up funds for good things.
I am aware of the Government Accountability Office. I want something more powerful than that. The Government Accountability Office is a toothless organisation without the resources and power needed to really identify and defeat Government inefficiency.
Maybe we give the existing department teeth instead of creating another office. Seems more efficient.
We will need a Department for Government Efficiency to determine that.
