Trump said on social media that publicly airing the execution “might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan.”
But, he continued, “any very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device.”
Not because it’s morally reprehensible but because there was backlash.
How Republican Christian of him and the rest of the shitty Republican Christians.

Eh.
Not that I wouldn’t put it past this fascist regime to publicly execute someone if there wasn’t any pushback, but I think most of us knew this was just more grandstanding. Flexing the muscles because that’s what conservatives respond to because they couldn’t care less about policies that could actually help them.
It was always the case that even a lot of conservatives wouldn’t want their kids to be able to tune in and watch someone being killed. So it never made sense for them to actually do it. So now their narrative to their stupid, violent base can be “Well, we wanted to get serious about punishing criminals, but the sissy lib tears made us stop”. Of course their stupid, violent base will eat that up.
And, of course, it also served as a distraction from Trump’s complete and utter failure as president and child rape.
