Missing from the meme: “It already existed, but nobody bothered an eye to it back then.”
I am currently vibe coding a project for tracking my money a bit (as a young person with not a lot of money). It’s going great and I’m kinda learning a few things here and there but I honestly still don’t understand the syntax of dart/flutter thousands of lines later.
I would never put this on my CV. I would never sell this app, would barely give it to friends since there’s a chance everything blows up and I’d have 0 clue how to fix it. This is a shitty tool that even with my limited understanding of app development is clearly held together by hopes, dreams, and a 20 dollar AI subscription.
This, and people promoting it so much. I feel like my projects will lose value because anyone can just put projects in GitHub and people aren’t going to check everything to make sure you’re good.
Job market is already so noisy, it’s super hard for anyone to even look at your CV unless you have connections. And the projects I’ve put years of effort are becoming less and less relevant.
And what even is the point of making my tool open source and putting years of effort into it when someone can just feed it to their AI, generate something that’s similar but with fancy website and promoting it using their platform
Go to r/redditalternatives on reddit and you’ll find almost all the projects there are vibe coded. What’s harrowing is these projects have a login page too. Buddy if you’re creating accounts here, consider yourself pwned.

i always feel kinda sad for the contributors who are, like, 3rd or 4th on these projects. imagine being a prominent contributor to something and be of less importance than the puke machine
Just plagiarism all the way down.
All books are just plagiarised from the dictionary
$10 says the dev is doing the project to pad their CV to try to score a job they’re not qualified for. We’re all having to deal with sorting the chaff and the grain because silicon valley loonies thought giving people access to a stochastic parrot was a great idea. Crackpots are now empowered.
The like 100+ new Blender3D plugins that are sprouting like mushrooms growing on shit.
Talking about “killing the vibe”
