Donald Trump asked the Smithsonian Institution to install a 30ft “Colossus statue” of George Washington outside the National Museum of American History, and a special exhibit honoring the nation’s first president, in a social media post late on Friday.

The president requested that the exhibit continue through February 2032, the 300th anniversary of Washington’s birth.

“He is easily America’s Greatest Hero. Without him, our Country and our Freedoms wouldn’t exist,” Trump posted on Truth Social as he flew to his golf course in Ireland.

The statue of Washington would replace the current Infinity sculpture by New York artist José de Rivera, commissioned by the federal government and installed in 1967.

I’m lamenting that our government, regardless of who is in charge, can only seem to accomplish evil actions and is stringing us all along with false promises of improvement that there’s always some stupid flimsy excuse for not doing.

If you want to defend biden in that context because trump is worse, that’s up to you. I think all that happens when you pretend half of the abusive system isn’t rotten is complacency when the “good” half is in office.

We cannot defeat fascism if our leaders aren’t interested in doing so.

So what is your point? Because it sure looks to me like it’s “republicans bad, democrats good even when they act like republicans.”
