That’s exactly what they want. If they have nothing to lose, they fight back, then the right can point at that and use it as confirmation of their originally bullshit claims. Fascism 101.
I see this sentiment a little more frequently than I see the following that I’ll paraphrase:
“They’re doing this to egg on a response [so we should not give them what they want by pushing back]” is an accidental or intentional PsyOp campaign.
If your opponent threatens to fight you if you fight back, you would choose to surrender before the fight begins?
It’s an incredibly effective PsyOp when arguably the largest downside of anti-MAGA people is their rampant apathy, and that sentiment is like gasoline to a fire. “Oh, the enlightened response is to stay home like I did in 2024? Sick.”
