The Counter-Terrorism Administration, in cooperation with the Internal Security Command in the Damascus countryside, managed to thwart a sabotage plot targeting the security of the capital, Damascus.
The operation came as the result of meticulous security follow-up on suspicious movements within the capital, where specialized units succeeded in detecting a woman within the cell as she attempted to carry out a sabotage operation by planting an explosive device in front of the home of one of the religious figures in the vicinity of the Mariamite Church in the Bab Tuma area.
Preliminary investigations have revealed the cell’s connection to the Lebanese Hezbollah party, with its members receiving specialized military training abroad that included skills in planting explosive devices.
