Maher Tarabishi’s family had hoped he could be present to say his final goodbyes to his son, Wael.

Maher, Wael’s primary caretaker, has been in federal detainment since October, separating him from his son as he battled severe health complications from a serious and rare inherited disorder.

But despite the family’s public pleas for Maher’s temporary release, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials denied their request, his attorney said

    Or even “family values” for that matter. How the hell can you claim to be focused on families while doing shit like this.

    The son had only known his father as his care taker for his entire life. The administration who claims they’re locking up “the worst of the worst,” had to detain a father (during what he thought would be another normal immigration check in just like he had been complying with for the past 20+ years) who had devoted himself to caring for his son.

    The son’s condition began to decline almost as soon as his father was detained because nobody else really understood how to care for him. His dying wish was to see his father one last time, and not only did the family first administration deny him that wish, they wouldn’t even allow the father to be temporarily released to attend his funeral.
