Second best case is no chip or previous owner super-sucks and therefore - you get a new buddy.
We invited an abandoned gray girl in for wet food one day and she never left. Then it clearly isn’t somebody else’s cat and it is good on you to take care of her. Seriously, people here all butthurt because I’m pointing out that it is not a good idea to feed other people’s pets. And even insulting me, such entitled pricks.
When the cat is not malnurished and in good health then don’t feed it. You don’t know of allergies or other causes for special food. It is natural for cats to eat mice and birds, but eating other things like tuna can do damage.

I don’t know if she’s owned. She never leaves my porch and the bushes next to it. She’s dirty and has fleas. You can’t see it well in these pictures

The cat may have special needs, like a specialized diet if said cat is diabetic.
What looks like a good act may as well end up killing the cat.
