The US constitution is in peril. Civil and human rights are being trampled upon. The economy is in disarray.

At this rate, we will not make it through the second 100 days.

Federal judges in more than 120 cases so far have sought to stop Trump – judges appointed by Republicans as well as Democrats, some appointed by Trump himself – but the regime is either ignoring or appealing their orders. It has even arrested a municipal judge in Milwaukee amid a case involving an undocumented defendant.

Recently, Judge J Harvie Wilkinson III of the court of appeals for the fourth circuit – an eminent conservative Reagan appointee who is revered by the Federalist Society – issued a scathing rebuke to the Trump regime. In response to its assertion that it can abduct residents of the US and put them into foreign prisons without due process, Wilkinson wrote:

If today the Executive claims the right to deport without due process and in disregard of court orders, what assurance will there be tomorrow that it will not deport American citizens and then disclaim responsibility to bring them home? And what assurance shall there be that the Executive will not train its broad discretionary powers upon its political enemies? The threat, even if not the actuality, would always be present, and the Executive’s obligation to ‘take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed’ would lose its meaning.

    Upcoming crisis-es:

-May 2nd : End of De minimis exemption: Orders under $80 will no longer be exempt from tariffs from China

-May 7th: All flights will require a driver’s license with real ID (new licenses after ~2015)

-The X date: Day U.S. spending cap is reached. Earliest is June, expected around August. Would cut off all federal spending including SS and Medicare.

-The X date bill: Bill that would raise the spending cap through reconciliation – but also cut either Medicaid or the Obamacare Medicare expansion. This would lead to, among many things, most rural hospitals being shut down.

-August-September: With the Department of Education no longer working student loans and accommodation requests will be thrown into chaos

-August – November: Harvest season w/o immigrants and w/o USAID contracts. Mass farmer bankruptcy , but limited time cheap food.

-Nov-Dec: Big Box stores see empty shelves due to tariffs. Smaller stores see it earlier, but Target and Walmart will have warehouse inventory until Black Friday.

-Dec-Jan: New COVID variant and flu variants will cause more strain on hospitals due to the previous closures and anti-vac NIH.

Variable dates: Terrorist attacks, something with Russia and Ukraine, Trump “assassination attempt” that turns out to be a false alarm, Trump health scares, and at least one Cabinet member will be forced out due to crimes and/or incompetence.

I think you missed May 3rdish when the last ships sent from China before the tarrifs reach US shores and there’s nothing coming after them?

I think it’s hilarious how the public seems to be waiting for their representatives to do something while at the same time, the representatives are stoking the fire, waiting for the public to do something.

All the while the orange dude is using immigrants for ICE, FBI and other LEOs to practice on … so they’ll be ready to shut the revolution down immediately.

I do really feel for all the Americans who didn’t vote or ask for this, 'cause it’s gonna be ugly.

It won’t be ugly for most of them. It’ll be fucking peachy. There will be no revolution.

“The revolution will be painless if the left allows it to be” well the left has made its choice and every minority will be left to rot in the concentration camps because demonstrably americans have utterly buckled to the mere implication of potential violence.

Hopefully America will be like Russia, violent and authoritarian with severely declining quality of life and a broadly politically apathetic population.
Alternatively - and increasingly likely - it will be like Nazi Germany and the fascists will make up for declining quality of life by engaging in increasingly doomed military campaigns.

Either way the ones who could have done something to stop this will be the least affected while everyone else gets crushed under the boot of fascism. But at least they will have the moral high ground of never resorting to political violence.

The reps are playing it safe. The best strategy for their own survival is to pacify the public. Agree with their complaints and do nothing about it.

That will work until the Executive decides they aren’t needed any longer. A big “Go home, Capitol closed by executive order until the emergency has passed” sign on the Capitol doors. Those that ignore the sign wake up in some third world prison or as the next contestant on 47’s newest prime time game show, Who Wants to be Treated as an Insurrectionist Traitor. Their best bet is to organize a fast track impeachment before 47 can stop them, but the longer this all goes on, the faster that whole impeachment thing would need to occur.

Then this shameful chapter of American history will end.

If he does get impeached, we get JD Vance, or is there some way to actually pivot to somebody else?

feels like you would oust the whole White House, but idk how it actually works.

I pretty much agree with the article, but I don’t see it explained what he means by “US won’t survive Trump’s next 100 days”?

I think what he really means is that democracy in USA won’t survive.
I can’t even begin to imagine how frustrating it must be to be a blue state like for instance California, and be forced through this political insanity? Also the personal frustration must be enormous for people who knew Trump would be a massive disaster.

We are cursed to live in interesting times. Could the frustrations for blue states like California become big enough for them to secede? I better go get some more popcorn!

Absolutely and Denmark has also made an offer to buy California, which would have many advantages for Trump. For one he would get rid of one of the most pesky blue states.
Many Californians have actually offered to help financing the purchase!

More realistically the blue states should consider the fact that the red states will always be slowing them down and they might need to secede and form their own country and let the red states become a third world country because that’s what they clearly want.

Love to hear it! The sooner the U.S. empire collapses and destroys itself, the better off the rest of the world will be. Good riddance to the genocidal, slave owning, planet incinerating, resource hoarding, worker crushing cancer that the USA is and always has been. Fuck them and the Nazi boot-lickers that support them.

i feel you, but i do not see any reason to think that any of these bad things are inextricably linked to the United States, i.e., the Constitution. To me, the core of the Constitution seems to be very compatible with Love, although the authors tried to cripple that message to suit incompatible interests, e.g., slavery.

After reading some parts of the Constitution again, i was disappointed by the mention of “Aid and Comfort” until i realized that the Constitution indicates that treason implies “Aid and Comfort” or declaring war against the United States, not that said “Aid and Comfort” is necessarily treasonous, which would necessarily imply persecution of religions of unconditional Love; in being unconditional, after all, Love does not discriminate by affiliation or past actions.

i do approve characterizing implementations of the United States as being afflicted with truly horrible things, though. This implementation has always had fascist-adjacent elements and, hell, has gone from being on the path to being the Mother of Exiles to just being the mama of all strays. But such hatred, such dehumanization is not aligned with the liberal spirit of the Constitution.

i welcome any disagreement here, and you are free to ask for any clarification.

The Constitution was written to enshrine Oligarchy, and sold as “Democracy” to those unwilling or unable to read and/or comprehend it. In the original, the only people with any rights and power were Rich, White, Males. The window dressing has changed over the decades, but the core remains. Rich White Males still own and operate the United States. There was no love in that document for anyone other than the Oligarchs.

“You know guys that work for scraps, do six jobs-who basically bend over and take it. Give it fifteen years tops; this country is finished with democracy. I’m telling you as a caring society, where we do things for each other, we got one thing after another- we are finished here!”

Leaders can speak all they want means nothing. Action is what counts, and they won’t do anything to jeopardize their comfort
