I’m terrified of installing anything that I cannot easily clean. These people are utterly fearless.
I’d be terrified that something would startle the cat and she’d fall.
Yeah, it needs a guard rail.
Does the cat know about 3-point contact?
I don’t know about 3-point contact
It’s a safety-training thing.
Basically, when climbing a ladder make sure to always have three limbs on the ladder at all times.
Smart! Thanks
You’re absolutely right, as that cat will puke in the most inconvenient spot.
My cats always run across the tile floor to the carpet to puke.
The other day I watched my cat drink an obscene amount of water, like 10 minutes straight of licking, then she went to the basement and puked it all up at the base of a cabinet.
I had to empty the cabinet and move it to clean up the 99% water puke.
My cats will be about to throw up, so I’ll slide a paper towel under them, and they will try to move to get back to the floor.
I do that too. It’s a much easier cleanup.
For the cats, at least. I wouldn’t recommend doing it for yourself. I learned that the hard way.
They are just being considerate, since puke blends in better with carpets. Ask me how I know.
Honestly feels like their only mistake was not making it roomba sized with an outer mini railing that would keep the roomba from falling off AND they could hang decorations from it. Really didn’t think about how they could multipurpose this.
ETA I retract somewhat, they could be total mavericks and get a long extension for their vacuum and then tape it to an RC car. Is it a lot of extra work? Yes. Would it be amazingly fun? Also yes. Especially if you hook up catnip spreader basket on the back (though maybe that’s unsafe, probably don’t encourage your cat to weed and balance beam).
They’ll probably just use the same ladder they used when installing it
I had a friend with a high foyer. They had to dust it with a ladder. Every time I saw it happen, I didn’t think “this is feasible.” No, I wondered which homicidal idiot designed it and which sadomasochist chose it.
I use a ladder to vacuum hair off a vent at work, it’s harder than vacuuming hair off the ground, but I’d say it’s worth it to make your cats dream come true
I cannot fathom voluntarily adding hazard cleaning to my monthly routine. I envy your resolve.
Are ladders really that hazardous?
I can fairly comfortably fall five feet. Any higher than that, particularly with something in my hand, I would not choose to do any more than I have to. I’m cleaning gutters, pressure washing siding, and painting walls, but not happily.
I did this from our banister to a high window above our door. The cats were always testing the waters and I was afraid they’d fall. I made a ramp leading to the platform, which rests on the window sill, and short rail so they couldn’t roll off of the platform. There was a small roll of leftover carpet from the previous owners of the house. I used the rest of that for padding.
They absolutely love going up there and staring out the window at the neighborhood. Although, only 1 can be up there at a time. Their rules, not ours. If another tries to come up they’ll have a stare off or the one that was there just leaves. Usually with a few choice words.
Bless you, your cats, and home. Thank you for sharing this!
Building inspector here, I’m going to need to see architectural drawwings and purrmits.
PurrmitTs 🐾
Could have just pulled the light over so she could jump on it and swing across.
That’s a homie
All Cats Are Autistic Islands ;)
With a carpet! This is posh!
There’s a kitty who’s sure that the window is gold And she’s walking a bridge to the heavens When she gets there, she knows, if the windows not closed Maybe a bird, she can get what she came for
Meow meow meow, meooooow meow And kit’s walking a bridge to the heavens
