• Chinese electric vehicles pose “a real threat” to the European car industry, according to Christian Kames, managing director at financial advisory firm Lazard.

  • Around 40% of the presenters at the IAA Mobility Conference in Munich are from Asia, while the number of Chinese companies in attendance has more than doubled compared to last year.

  • “I don’t think we are still at the stage where they underestimate the Chinese,” Kames said.

I disagree with the title. The worst enemy of European car manufacturers are European car manufacturers.

They spend loads of money on political bribery to “make that e-car thingy go away”, and now they are the ones behind the field.

Let’s not also ignore the fact that places like China have been used for cheap labour causing manufacturing to be moved there, meaning much of the technology and skills are all now based there. Their constant drive for more and more profits has meant they created the noose in which to hang themselves.
