I wonder, did the galaxy believe Luke’s story about Vader suddenly turning on the emperor last minute? It seems in the sequel trilogy that he did tell people cause Rey had heard about it. Empire loyalists probably thought it an insult to Vader’s memory to say he turned against the empire.
